Troubleshooting A Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack That Has A Stuck Holding Arm Knob

Question:

The shorter holding arm knob spins round as it should when the key is in the lock position. However when the key is in the unlock position the clamp does not open even when turning the knob anti-clockwise, it makes a ratchet type sound. We have no problems with longer arm which held outer bike on the rack. We now cannot take the bike off the rack so major problem. We bought the rack recently second hand. Any help appreciated as we need to get the bike off the rack today. It is on an ordinary van so we cant open the doors to get into the van.... Thx

I have a couple of suggestions you can try with your Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 and your stuck knob.

What you can first try and do is lock and turn and unlock and turn the holding arm knob repetitively. You can also try with the key in or out to see if that helps get things lined up. The last thing you can try is jiggling the rack while loosening the knob.

It sounds silly but it does help relieve the tension while you are tightening the knob.

If all else fails, you can try spraying some WD-40 on the threads to help lubricate the threads. If you're still having no luck, feel free to reach out again and we'll gladly take care of you.
