Left and Right Trailer Turn Signals Blink When Right Turn Signal is Activated
Published 11/01/2022 >
Question:
When I turn on the left blinker on my trailer it works correctly. When I turn on my right blinker BOTH blinkers blink like hazard lights. My lights on the trailer are LED and have a white wire for the ground on each light . If I disconnect the ground wire on the right blinker the left light still blinks even though the right side blinker is not doing anything. Help :

If the left turn signal illuminates when the right turn signal is activated then you have a short in the wiring harness or trailer connector which is causing the left turn signal wire (usually yellow) and the right turn signal wire (usually green) to touch. I first recommend checking the trailer connector for corrosion but if there is none present you will need to start tracing each of these wires back from the trailer connector to the tail lights. If the wiring is too badly damaged or you cannot find the short you may just want to replace the entire wiring harness with one like the 4-Way Wishbone Trailer Wiring Harness with 42" Ground Wire part # A40W42B.
