Question:
I would like to us Etrack to make a removable upper bed in my converted Mercedes Sprinter Van. The bed would be a 6 foot long front to back of van and 6 wide. How many supports from wall to wall should you have? Using 3/4 or 1/2 plywood panels to hold the mattress? Using Plus nuts to hold the track to the van supports. Also what would be the advantages of using E track cross bars to wood? Thank you for your assistance.

Since what you are doing is a custom modification, there is not really a clear "should have" to go by. That being said, I can provide some thoughts and insights to help you make a decision.
Personally I would go with the CargoSmart Horizontal or Vertical X-Track # 3486500 and the CargoSmart Rotating Board Holder for E-Track and X-Track Systems # 3481740. This will allow you to use less space than installing an entire track along your Sprinter. You would install these on each side across from each other. It is recommended that you also use an E-Track Backing Plate # e89RR every 12" for the best results. So I would recommend putting an X-track and board holder every 12".
This would mean you would need a total of 12 for each of the below items and 6 boards.
- CargoSmart Horizontal or Vertical X-Track # 3486500
- CargoSmart Rotating Board Holder for E-Track and X-Track Systems # 3481740
- etrailer E-Track Backing Plate # e89RR
The benefit of this over wood, would be the versatility. You can use other X-track accessories when your bed is not in place. You can also fold the board holders along the wall with the bed removed to use less space.
