To add tension to a slide topper like the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000163285 you will want to remove the slide topper from the brackets and reroll the awning roller 14 times to add enough tension to the springs. The manufacturer suggest that this be done with the slide out opened 5"-6" and that the 14 turns are done to both sides (14 turns counter clockwise on idler side, 14 turns clockwise on drive side).
The manufacturer also suggest that this be done by a qualified dealer/technician due to the high amounts of tension the springs are under.
