Edge Evolution Programmer Discharging Battery
Updated 11/06/2013 | Published 11/03/2013 >
Question:
Does the edge evolution programer ep15051 draw power off of the battery when the truck is off. I dont drive my truck much once the weather cools off and I stop my weekly trips to the lake. I have gone out to my truck several times to find the battery dead. I just put the tunner in last June so not sure what else it could be.

According to my Edge representative, what you are experiencing is common with the older Evolution models like your # EP15051 that are installed on vehicles that are not driven frequently. There are some alternatives. You can simply unplug the unit from the OBD-II port once you shut the motor off and plug it back in before starting the engine or make it a practice to start the vehicle every couple of days and letting it run for a few minutes. Using a battery maintainer would be another option.
The new models like the Edge Gas Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner - Color Screen # EP59YR do not experience this issue.
