Question:

I have a 99 explorer, Eddie B. and want to use a 7 way pin with all the functionality including my electric brakes. Is there an adapter or kit for this?

Sure thing!

To add a fully-functioning 7-Way connector to your 1999 Ford Explorer we need to first add a 4-Way for the standard trailer light functions. If your vehicle came with a factory 4-Way or 7-Way then part # 118241 will get us there, otherwise we need to use the T-One # 118345 which tees in behind your tail lights and pulls power via a separate wire directly from your battery.

Now that we have a 4-Way we can install the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 which comes with all of the other parts and wiring we need to get to our goal of a fully functioning 7-Way.

Attached is an installation video of the ETBC7 kit on a 2001 Explorer along with the Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller that you can use as a guide for the installation. Please note that we don't make the reverse light connection because a lot of trailers don't have reverse lights. If you need this function active you'll need to splice into the reverse light function on your Explorer and connect that to the yellow wire on the ETBC7 connector.
