Can Ends of Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector be Cut Off and Hardwired to Trailer Wiring

i purchased the model pdw 50-epo hardwire but they sent me the portable. can i install connector on the in and out wire to plug watchdog into, to use inside rv? if so, does it matter i cant turn on to test before plugging in to rv because it will not be easy to access? do i turn off main breaker in rv then turn back on after testing or does that matter? i read your reply to another person, that you dont have to do that to the hardwire version, though it says to in the instructions in step 1-4.

You can cut the wires of the Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector # PWD50-EPO and splice them together using a terminal block but my contact at Hughes Autoformers mentioned this will void the warranty so you'll want to just connect it per the instructions or return the portable version and get the Hardwired Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU27FR like you initially planned to do so you remain under your warranty.
