Question:

I have an old tailgate assist nut insert thats stuck on the drivers side of my 2017 Ram 1500. Can I use the passenger side without installing it on the driver's side? It has a hole identical to the drivers side. Thanks

I have a great alternative lift assist for you. Unfortunately, I confirmed with DeeZee that the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System for Dodge Trucks # DZ43301 can only be used on the driver's side of your 2017 Ram 1500. This is because if it is not used on the driver's side, it can cause either serious damage.

For a different lift assist option, I recommend the Hopkins EasyLift Truck Bed Tailgate Lift Assist # 74211. This model includes a torsion bar that is designed to take on some of the weight of the tailgate when you open it. I went ahead and attached a demo video that shows how it works.
