Determining the height of your 5th wheel will depend primarily on your 5th wheel truck and setup. Ideally, you want your trailer to sit as level as possible, which means you will need to pick the right height adjustment on the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W.
The B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W you're looking at has 3 height settings, that way you can adjust your hitch to meet your specific application.
To determine which setting will be the one for you, you will need to park your truck on level ground, and use your landing gear/ trailer jacks to level it. Then measure from the ground to the bottom of the king pin skid plate. Following that, measure from the ground to the top of the skid plate on the 5th wheel.
You'll also want to ensure that you have at least 5" to 6" of space between your bed rails and your trailer, that way they do not contact eachother.
