Installation of Draw-Tite Brake Controller Part # 5504 on a 2007 GMC Sierra

Question:

i need to know how to wire in my draw tite controller to my 07 gmc sierra. using the wirering harness supplied by gm under the dash.

Since your 2007 GMC Sierra is the new body style, it will not have the port under the dash, but the wires will be taped together underneath the dash. Look for a bundle of 4 wires: Red, Dark Blue, Light Blue, and White. I have included a link to a page about installing a brake controller on a 2008 GMC with a chart that will tell you which wires go to which. Use butt-connectors to attach the leads from the brake controller to the wire. The red power wire is tucked behind the fuse block, under the hood. You will retrieve and attach it to the stud on the fuse block.

If your Sierra did not come with a factory 7-way, you will need part # PK11916. The vehicle is pre-wired for it and you will need to put this connector in place and find the male connector under the bumper and put it into place.

I have included a link on how to install the 7 way plug and wire a different brake controller that uses the same wiring method. Follow the video and the installation should be pretty easy.
