Question:
If I have wire 4 6 volt batteries to make 12 volts will my alternator charge the batteries correctly or is there a problem?

Expert Reply:
Your alternator is designed to send a charge back to a source so as long as you have 2 sets of the 6V batteries wired in series and then you connect those 2 sets in parallel (see attached photo) you will retain that 12V system and your alternator will interact with your battery bank just fine.
I do recommend using a battery charger like the Redarc BCDC # 331-BCDC1225D to make sure your battery bank gets the correct charge. You can find all of the wiring and connections needed for this install with the Kit # e79ZR.
