What Heavy Duty Crossbar Setup do You Recommend for My Snugtop Camper Shell with Tracks?

Question:

Which heavy duty roof racks are compatible with ROAM roof top tents? The tent is a simply clamp-on style that I am looking to put on my Snugtop camper shell with tracks on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma.

Without knowing the exact crossbar dimensions that are compatible with your ROAM tent's clamps, we do have a crossbar system that will give you the weight capacity you need to work with your Snugtop camper shell on your 2015 Toyota Tacoma. For this setup, you need the following parts:

- Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - RTC and RT Roof Rack Tracks # RRRLT600
- x2 Roof Rack Leg Spacer Blocks for Rhino-Rack Heavy-Duty Crossbars - 5 mm Thick # RRQMHD05
- Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty Crossbars # RB1375B-2

With this setup, the dynamic weight rating is 220 pounds. This is the weight capacity of the setup when the vehicle is in motion. The manufacturers of Rhino-Rack crossbars do not rate their systems for static weight (the weight capacity of the roof rack system when the vehicle is completely stopped). The rating for a roof top tent is determined by the maximum weight capacity of the tent itself. Also, it is important to make sure that the camper shell is rated to handle the amount of people as well as the tent when the vehicle is in a stopped position.

As far as clamping to the hd crossbars, I recommend making sure that your clamps on your tent are compatible with crossbars that measure 1-5/8" wide x 1-7/8" tall.
