Alternate Assembly of Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier for A-Frame Trailers

Question:
I have an Onan 4KY series generator that I want to possibly mount up on this tray. The dimensions of the tray are slightly too short width wise at the front where they angle in. Havent seen it done......but could I just flip the tray upside down so the flat bottom of the tray is up and the raised edges are down? I think I would only have to make a steel shim for the front mount leg to lay flat and take up the space for the inverted rim. Shouldnt really compromise any load bearing weight of the tray being upside down? The generator weighs 172 pounds anyway. I think it would just be easier mounting it.....and it would be bolted to the bottom of the tray anyway. What do you think? Thanks.

You are welcome to modify the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier for A-Frame Trailers, # CC-255 in any way you wish for your purpose. What you described seems logical enough to be functional but of course this would be a modification from manufacturer design of assembly.
