Is Wiring Batteries in Series or Parallel Better Than The Other

Question:
parallel vs series. parallel would keep the voltage the same and increase the amperage vs series which would double the voltage and keep the amperage the same. Which is best?

One method isn't necessarily better than the other but they do have different applications. So with any electrical system you have to match the voltage requirements so if you have a 12 volt system and two 12 volt batteries they'd have to be wired parallel and you'd get the additional amperage. If the batteries were 6 volt they'd have to be wires in series to match the voltage.
