Over Under Conversion Kit for 2014 Jayco Swift Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a small travel trailer 2014 Jayco swift with low ground clearance. This is a little disconcerting in the aft end where my plumbing resides, and when going in/out of my driveway I nearly always catch the brackets for my sway control/distributing hitch that are attached to the a-frame of the front of the trailer something like RE34FR. For that reason I dont put the sway control arms on the hitch and trailer until Im out of the driveway. It looks like an over-under axle conversion kit like K71-384-00 would raise the frame of the trailer to give me more clearance at the back of the trailer, and would also allow me to raise the brackets for the sway control/weight distribution on the trailer and the hitch ball on the truck to give me more clearance at the front and stay level. Does this sound like an accurate understanding? If so, should I expect any impacts to the handling of the trailer? Its only 2500 pounds or so, but is a giant sail of course. The circumference of the trailer axle is 7.5, so I presume I need the 2-3/8inch kit based upon my grasp of Pi.

Your grasp of Pi seems pretty good. From what I could find your Jayco likely has a 3,500 lb. Dexter axle. The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 would be the correct kit for that and your 7.5" circumference does translate to 2-3/8" diameter.

You are correct, using the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 will raise the overall height of the trailer. Which would in turn raise everything associated with it, to include the height at which your weight distribution systems sits. As far as ride in concerned, theoretically it will raise the center of gravity which could cause it to flip more easily. But realistically, most weight in a travel trailer is sitting lower and you are not going to notice a difference.
