How Does The Rhino-Rack Pioneer Mount To My 2018 GMC Savana Van With Rain Gutters

Question:

I am interested in buying the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack - Gutter Mount - 100inch Long x 62inch Wide Item # RR93QX 1. I count 6 cross bars running from pass side to dr side. Do all of them move? and can I lock them in place where I deem necessary? 2. I notice they send 4 sets of gutter mount legs. can you put them on any of the six cross bars? 3. I intend on using the platform for standing and sitting while on my travels. Will this support two average body weights? =300lbs or so 4. It appears that you mount the gutter mount legs to the platform then lift the platform over the van and slide the legs into place moving east to west until over gutter rails and the tighten. Am I right? 5. How wide is the outside rail unit? I have mounted a max air fan in the very rear center of my van. Do you think with a little American ingenuity I could cut out the panels to go around my vent? Keep in mind I work for a van customizing company. We only install Aluminess. So, I have not worked with Rhino.

There is a lot to unpack in these questions, but I can get through it. The crossmembers on the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack - Gutter Mount - 100" Long x 62" Wide, part # RR93QX, are stationary. It comes with eight Rhino-Rack Gutter Mount legs that mount at specific locations. I have included a diagram that shows where they should attach to your Pioneer Platform and the adapters you will use. The load limit of your Pioneer Platform is 242 lbs, but that is a dynamic weight limit, not static. You should check your owner's manual for the weight limit of your vehicle's roof. You are correct. The gutter mount legs, spacer blocks, and leg adapters will all be mounted on the Pioneer Platform. Then the platform will be put on the roof of your vehicle. Any altering to this unit will affect the integrity of the platform. I suppose you could cut out a portion of the platform to work around your air vent, but you would void the warranty.
