Troubleshooting a Derale Remote Transmission Cooler in a 2004 Dodge 2500/3500 With Exposed Wires

Question:

In the snow this last winter a drift tore off the plug to the Transmission Cooler. There are three wires hanging down and Im trying to put a new plug on but can not match up the wiring. can you please tell me what color goes to what? 2004 Dodge 5.9 Diesel with Tow Package - 2500/3500

Derale manufacturers remote transmission coolers that do have two wires, however, the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler # D13504 that you reference does not have any wires.

If you do have an aftermarket remote transmission cooler - there are two types of hook-ups: coolers with a thermostat only and those with the option of either a thermostat or manual switch. The hook-up directions are as follows:

In the Derale # D15830, the positive wire attaches to a 12 volt source such as a manual switch or thermostat and the negative wire attached to a good ground chassis.

The other is the Derale # D15900 where the positive wire attached directly to the thermostat and the negative wire attaches to a good ground chassis.

If you have a factory transmission cooler, you will have to contact Dodge for further information.
