Best Rooftop Cargo Box For 2021 Tesla Model Y w/ Factory Roof Rack That Allows Rear Hatch to Open

Question:
Best options for 2021 Tesla Model Y Roof Rack. I believe my crossbar spread is about 37 from center of front crossbar to center of rear crossbar, maybe 39 from front of front crossbar to rear of rear crossbar. Id also prefer models that allow me to open the rear trunk at least most of the way. What are my options?

There is a good option for your 2021 Tesla Model Y with the factory roof rack that will allow you to open your rear hatch, and I did verify the fits with the manufacturer for you. The factory rack does have a crossbar spread of 35 inches, and the option that will fit, allow you to carry a good amount of cargo, and open your rear hatch is from Yakima:
- Yakima CBX Rooftop Cargo Box # Y66FR
The CBX # Y66FR gives you 16 cubic feet of cargo carrying capacity, and is designed with a tapered tail specifically to allow for hatch opening. Having to remove your cargo box to open the hatch, or not being able to open the hatch all the way can be a real pain so I can definitely understand wanting to ensure your hatch can open.
Apart from that though, the CBX is an all-around high-quality rooftop box that is really easy to use. It opens on either side, and doing so requires you just pull on a small lever; it will also install on your Tesla's roof rack with just a simple clamping system. The CBX # Y66FR is also just 14-1/2 inches tall so it is really low-profile, which makes it more aerodynamic for better wind resistance, not to mention giving it a sleek aesthetic.
