Question:

I have a 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid, not the plug in one, that I am needing a hitch and wiring for. It will predominantly be used to carry our 4 bikes around, but I do occasionally tow little 5x8 trailer around as well. I have the Tekonsha wiring harness in my cart, but am torn between the Curt and etrailer hitches. Is one better than the other? Prefer to have the least visible one as well. Thanks for your help.

The two available hitches for your 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid, are almost identical. We have the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e89YR and the Curt # C23FR. They are both very capable, class II hitches with 2" receiver openings. They are both rated up to 3,500 pounds towing and 525 pounds of tongue weight. It did look like this number varies on how your Escape was equipped from Ford though, so you will need to double check the capacities in your owner's manual.

The main difference between the etrailer # e89YR and the Curt # C23FR are the finishes. The etrailer has a matte black finish and the Curt has a glossy black finish. This is a matter of preference, I believe the matte black finish of the etrailer # e89YR blends in better with the Ford Escape, making it not as noticeable.

For the wiring, the Tekonsha # TE54FR is definitely the way to go. These will have a longer lifespan than other options and, other than a wire that needs to be run up to the battery for needed power, it will be a plug and play option. So a pretty quick and easy install.
