Question:

Will the Yakima 60x54 inch platform for crossbars fit on crossbar space which is 60 inches from one crossbar to the other. The crossbars on my A.R.E. HD CX Series Bed Cap are fixed at 60 inches apart. This means the platform would be the same length as the crossbar spread.

According to Yakima the 60" Long x 54" Wide Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack for Crossbars # Y05045-39 will be too short when it comes to mounting for crossbars that are 60" apart and you need to go with the larger 84" Long x 49" Wide version which is part # Y05047-39.

The thing about this though is that the larger platform rack requires 3 crossbars to be safely used so you will need to add another crossbar to your A.R.E. HD CX Series Bed Cap. We have the Thule TracRac CapRac # TH29200XT that can fit on your bed cap. This comes as a 2 crossbars system and the mounting brackets are 4" tall so you'll want to compare that to what you currently have to see if everything will sit level.
