What are the add on fender flares and how do I know if I have them?

Add-on fender flares are hard plastic flares added to the metal around the wheel wells, typically found on the Trail models. The add-on flares are what will prevent the mud flaps from being used. If you have the metal flares that are formed into the steel around the wheel openings, and do NOT have the factory running boards, the front mud flaps you referenced, part # HL56921 will work just fine for you.
If you DO have the running boards, but NOT the add-on fender flares, the rear mud guards part # HL57921 will fit.
