Question:
Hi Im trying to decide on a trailer hitch for my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport SV. I see on the Curt that the receiver is welded on the hitch cross bar via two thinner steel plates, is it strong enough? I plan to haul up to four bikes with a rear hitch rack, guessing the bikes will be about 35 lbs each plus the rack itself another 35-40 lbs. So you're looking at maybe 175-200 lbs loading those welds on the receiver for either brand. Im a little concerned that Curt model with the two thinner plates and the associated weld to the cross bar may not handle that load. I don't intend to ever tow with it, just to haul bikes but the lower price is also appealing to me so wonder if it would work for what Im intending of hauling up to four bikes plus rack? Your quick response would be appreciated as Im in the process of deciding soon. Thanks

Good question, though the construction of the Curt hitch for your 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport won't affect its ability to carry your bike racks and four bikes. the Curt # C13377 hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs, which is well over the 200 lbs or so you mentioned so they are designed to handle well over double the amount of weight of your bikes and bike rack.
We have two hitches that install exactly the same, and have the same amount of ground clearance and bumper clearance, so truly the better option is going to be the one that is the least expensive between the two:
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13377 (glossy black finish)
- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e79YR (matte black finish)
I've also added a link below to our selection of bike racks that fit a 2 inch hitch if you are in need of one.
