Question:

Is there a recommended ladder preferably folding to access the Yakima Lock N Load Platform? And, can the Rhino Rack folding ladder work on the Yakima platform? The top of the Platform to the ground is 6 ft. 9 inches. Thank you!

I have a solution for you. I reached out to Rhino-Rack, and they could not confirm for sure that the mounting brackets of the Folding Ladder for Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Racks - Aluminum # RRRAFL-RUFLB will be able to fit the channels on your Yakima LockNLoad # Y05048.

With that information, the safest bet is to go with a telescoping ladder like the Thule Telescoping Ladder for Vans - 9 Steps - 8-1/2' # TH301404. The reason why it is better to go with the Thule Telescoping ladder over a regular folding ladder like the Telesteps Folding Ladder # TE27FR is because you will be able to safely retract the telescoping ladder for easy transport. On the other hand, if you go with something like the Telesteps, the only option would be to take up important cargo space on your LockNLoad platform. As far as overall height, the Thule Telescoping ladder can extend to 8-1/2 feet, which will give you plenty of height to access your 6 ft. 9 inch tall 2008 GMC Yukon XL.
