Let's start with the friction sway control, and yes, you can use that with your trailer and 2014 Mercedes GLK350 that has the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13177. What you will need is a friction sway control system by Curt, and a sway-control bracket for your ball mount:
- Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems # 17200
- Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003
The friction sway control can be used so long as you have electric brakes on your trailer (there isn't an option for trailers with surge brakes) and even though the title says "for Weight Distribution Systems" it does not have to attach to a weight distribution system. It can simply mount on your trailer frame and attach to the sway-control bracket which goes over your ball mount. This will give you a much more controlled, steady, and comfortable towing experience so friction sway control is highly recommended.
In regards to "no power distribution" that won't have anything to do with a hitch; if your trailer has LED lights and you get this warning only when the trailer is connected, the issue is likely that your Mercedes has a lamp-out sensor and is unable to read the minimal power draw. So you would need an adapter (assuming both the trailer and your Mercedes have a 7-way), the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV # 20142.
