The correct T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector for a 2017 Ford Escape is part # 118715, not part # 118566 which is for the older models. Unfortunately, I can't recommend modifying the harness as you would no longer retain any factory warranties. If you want to hardwire I recommend the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit part # C59496.
