How to Use Thule Portage Canoe Carrier on Roof of 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon with OEM Bars

I would so much like to use the Thule Portage on my Subaru 2021 Outback, but it seems this system is not fit for the stock crossbars on that car. Can I use the Portage to carry a canoe on my car? If not, why? And thirdly, is there another way to load a canoe on top of a 2021 Subaru Outback besides using foam blocks. Thanks much.

I checked with Thule and to install the Portage canoe carrier # TH819 on the roof of your 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon would require you to install one of their crossbar kits to your roof since the fold out bars are not adequate.
So for that the Thule Wingbar roof rack part numbers # TH711200, # TH460R, and # THKIT4063 would be a great option. This is a very quiet and easy to install roof rack that is well-made.
