Question:
Hello, We have a 2017 Ford Transit Connect in our shop at the moment requesting a brake controller installation. Which, we know is a hardwire application with universal brake controllers, but the problem we are having is where we need to put the brake light switch for the brake controller to be activated. It isnt running correctly when it is ran through the computer of the van. Are we able to run it through the brake lights or is it another location?

Using a wire from the PCM of the vehicle is not the normal way to get the brake signal circuit for a brake controller install. What we recommend is using a circuit tester liker part # PTW2993 to test all of the wires of the brake pedal switch and then see which one only has voltage when the brakes are applied. You'd want to use that circuit.
Or we have the universal stoplight switch part # RM-751000 which gives you a way to add this circuit to any vehicle pretty easily.
