Does Cutting Heat Shield to Install Draw Tite Hitch 36798 Affect Performance

Question:
Hi, Does cutting the heat shield provide less protection? I saw during the install video you need to cut it and wondered what takes the place. If you have picture of what helps take the place, that would be good to see. Thanks.

Cutting the heat shield to install the Draw Tite hitch part # 36798 does not affect anything enough to really make a noticeable difference. Basically at worst you might feel a little more warmth through the carpet at the rear of the vehicle if you were sitting there at idle but you'd never be able to tell the difference for normal use of the vehicle.
