Is the Malone Runway Trunk Bike Rack Going to Damage My Trunk?

Question:

This is on a 2020 Subaru Legacy sedan. I installed the Runway BC3 rack and it looks/feels very stable. But looking at how far in the rack rests on the trunk and the angles involved, I’m concerned it will either push a dent down into the center of the trunk top or just rip it off entirely when loaded up and hitting bumps. Pic attached to show what I mean. Am I being paranoid? Is the trunk stronger than it seems?

I understand your concern. Fortunately, we have not heard about any damage to vehicles' trunks when using the Malone Runway Trunk Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # MPG2142. From the weight distribution of the rack, most of the force is actually allayed to the bottom bar that rests above your bumper and the hooks that attach into the front of the trunk. The angle in your photograph looks normal. I went ahead and attached a picture of our expert installation to give you a comparison.
