Question:

I have a 2007 toyota tundra limited 51/2 foot bed truck. I bought a 5th wheel trailer and the sale included a hitch that was used in a ford f-150 short bed truck with no problem. It is a highjacker ultra slide. will i need mounting bracket kit #DM 855 3002 or #DM 855 3001 for my below bed attachment to the frame. I have the rails that came with the hitch. Thanks

The correct 5th wheel hitch mounting hardware and rail kit for your 2007 Toyota Tundra is the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Semi-Custom Install Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches # DM8552020-71. These rails will allow you install a Demco Highjacker Auto-Slide hitch. However, you may run into a problem using this on a 5-1/2 foot bed in that you may not have sufficient clearance when making tight turns. Typically with a truck that has a 5-1/2 Foot bed you'll need a static hitch and a new pin box with a rotating turret.

If you can let me know the model number of the pin box on your 5th wheel I'm happy to see if there is a rotating pin box and different hitch that can be used. You could also just attempt to use the Hijacker and be careful not to get into situations where the trailer might contact the truck cab during a turn. I've also linked a helpful article on pin box replacement and 5th wheel towing that you might find informative.
