Question:
I have a 2005 BMW X3 and I believe this will fit the car, but Im curious, will other manufacturer bike carriers Thule, Yakima, Rocky Mounts, etc. be compatible with these rails? Will I need to buy adapters?

Since The Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails - Aluminum - Black - 53-3/8" Long # C18118 are aero-style bars, they will allow you to mount most bike carriers from other manufacturers. Each bike rack will say if they are compatible with aero-style bars.
In addition to a rack's compatibility with aero bars, another he key thing that you need to consider when buying a bike rack is these dimensions from the Curt Roof Rack: 2-1/8" wide x 7/8" tall. Some bike racks have maximum dimensions for width and height that they will fit. For example, the Inno Fork Lock III Roof Bike Rack # INA391 will fit round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars with maximum crossbar dimensions of 3-1/2" wide x 1-1/8" tall. With this information, we definitely know that it will fit the Curt Roof Rack.
