For your 2004 Ford F-150 with the factory tow package, if the tow package included a 7-Way trailer wiring harness you will just need a brake controller and the appropriate adapter for your truck. For a brake controller I recommend the P2, # 90885. It is reliable, easy to set up, and easy to use. I have linked the installation details for you. For a wiring harness you will need # 3035-P. I have included links to the instructions and an installation video of this harness for you.
If your truck only has a 4-Way trailer wiring harness, you will just need to add one additional part, # 118247. This will add the 7-Way and appropriate relay to make it functional. I have linked instructions for this harness as well.
