Question:
I need a hitch that takes a 1-1/4 . Someone told me you could get a part that would convert it to a 2 inch hitch. Is that so? Or do I have to get a hitch that is 1-1/4 in.

It sounds like you need a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter for the trailer hitch receiver that fits a 2020 Chevy Malibu - the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12185.
We do have an adapter available, the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD.
Just keep in mind the adapter is for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier only, and should not be used for towing. I have added a link below to a video review of the adapter for you to check out as well.
