Comparing Factory and Aftermarket Roof Racks for a 2020 Volvo V60

Hi, I’m looking for a roof rack for my 2020 Volvo v60. The Oem rack is much cheaper than Thule/Yakima. Are there any disadvantages to buying the Volvo rack and putting a Thule ski attachment on it?

Hello Bill.

Great question. The main issues I have heard with the OEM roof racks is accessories not fitting correctly around the crossbars. You will have a much easier time finding accessories for the crossbars if you go with the aftermarket ones like Thule and Yakima. You will definitely not be disappointed in the quality of their products as well.

With that being said, for your 2020 Volco V60 I recommend that you go with the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack for Flush Rails - Aluminum - Black - Qty 2 # TH97YG.

I have included an install video on a suburban as we do not currently have one for the Volvo, the Suburban has flush mounted rails, so the install would still be the same.
