Question:
Will this base plate fit onto a 2002 PT Cruiser and attach to a roadmaster 5000 towbar?

Expert Reply:
The only Roadmaster base plates available for the 2002 PT Cruiser are the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 278-1. They will work with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar 5,000 lbs weight capacity, item # RM-020.
You will also need safety cables, # RM-643, and a lighting solution such as # C-ATL20A.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
