The break away battery is dead. Will that keep the trailer lights from working?

Expert Reply:
The breakaway battery is a totally separate system from the trailer lights so if yours is dead the lights will still function. But in the event your trailer became disconnected the breakaway system wouldn't be there to stop the trailer as you most likely already know.
We have battery chargers like the part # CTEK56865 which you could use to easily keep your battery topped off.
