Question:

1 have a 2016 ford escape with factory roof rack and crossbar- will this be a good fit or are my bars too thin ? Thanks

Yes they are! Etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier #e98878 fits bars within 7/8" to 1-1/2" thickness. I'm a big fan of how they're designed to fit most factory crossbars.

From what I know, the factory bars for the Ford Escapes since 2013 are the flat and thin style. Unless they have a different design for your bars, they are a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ford Escape. You also won't have the slight tilt that round bar owners sometimes experience when their carrier is unloaded, so that's great!

Two of the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carriers # e98878 will fit side by side on your 2016 Ford Escape. I attached a video with the kayak carrier on a 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon which is very similar in width as your 2016 Ford Escape. As you can see in the video, the kayak carrier is placed on one end of the vehicle and there is more than enough room for another kayak carrier on the other end.
