Question:

I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma double cab truck. Can I lower the tailgate with this rack tilted forward?

The Yakima RidgeBack 2 is an excellent bike rack with a tilt option, but even in the forward position you will not be able to lower your tailgate. This will be the case for just about any tilt-away rack on the market. Yakima came out with two really good solutions for this problem.

First, is the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483. This is compatible with any bike rack that has a 2" hitch, including the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02457 you mentioned.

Second, is the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack # Y02465. This rack can hold 4 bikes and is fix mounted to the Swing Away Hitch.
