Question:
I am looking for a simple wireless camera that I can put in my motorcycle trailer to monitor my bike going down the road. I am not very familiar with these products. I dont know if I would have a monitor for inside the vehicle or if I would use my Phone. Would I need to install a small 12v. battery to power the camera? What I do not want to do is to run wiring from the camera all the way to the truck dash. The interior of the trailer would be dark so would the camera make its own light so the images could be seen on the screen? Im certain I will have more questions but this is a starter. Thank you

Since you do not want to run wiring the best thing you can do is install a 12 volt battery in your trailer like you mentioned, and you can connect the Rampage Wireless Backup Camera # RA7710.
This would be the easiest method and what you will do is use 10 gauge wire # 10-2-1 to connect to battery power and ground to the Hopkins 12-Volt Power Socket # HM55115, which will connect to the Rampage camera. This camera does have a light, making this the best option for you.
I have added links to video reviews as well.
