Question:

I inherited a EazAligner 2000. I see there is an adapter RM-038 to RoadMaster base plates but I am not finding a RoadMaster base plate that is recommended for my Jeep and that works with the towbar. The only base plate from RoadMaster recommended for my Jeep is RM-521453-5 and in the information it states: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball. The EazAligner 2000 requires a hitch ball. Is there any way to use the EazAligner 2000 with a 2019 Jeep?

Roadmaster does have a base plate that will work, part # RM-521453-4. You'll also need the # RM-038 Duncan tow bar to Roadmaster Base Plate adapter. The reason we don't list the coupler style tow bars as being compatible is that the EZ4 type base plate drawbars need to be twisted 90° to remove, which isn't easy when the adapter is bolted on.

In other words, according to Roadmaster, it WILL work, it just won't be super-easy to remove the base plate draw bars as you'll need to unbolt the adapter from them.

To complete your towing system, you'll need safety cables, a wiring solution, a supplemental braking system and possibly a stop lamp switch and a 12-V outlet. If you'd like some recommendations for these parts, simply reply by email and I'd be happy to help.
