Question:
I’m looking to carry a Kayak and. SUP on the roof of my 2019 Crosstrek that has standard roof racks and crossbars. Will the Thule Compass Kayak and SUP carrier with tie downs- J style, Post style- TH890000 fit my Subaru? Also, I read that I can’t transport the SUP and a kayak at the same time because one must transport the SUP in a flat position. Can you recommend something that would work for my vehicle? Perhaps the Thule Hull-A-Port for the kayak but what could I use for the SUP? Bear in mind I want to transport them at the same time. Thank you for any help you might give.

Transporting a Kayak and a SUP at the same time is possible, but we will need two separate racks. First, we need to find a Kayak Carrier that will hold your kayak almost upright because we don't have a whole lot of rail space to work with. Since you have to haul your SUP flat and the average width of a SUP is 32"-34" wide, having the kayak upright is something we are going to need.
The Yakima BigStack Roof Mounted 2 Kayak Carrier System Item # Y04041 will work well with your kayak and will allow you to have it completely upright. For the SUP carrier, let's just keep it simple. The Rhino-Rack SUP and Surfboard Pads w/ Tie-Downs for Crossbars - Universal - 27-1/2" Long - Qty 2 Item # RRRWP04 will work well. Not a lot to it, but sometimes that's the best way to go in my experience. It comes with tie downs too and that's always nice. I've included some videos so you can get an idea of how they work!
