Question:

What weight distribution and sway control would you recommend for a 2005 Ford F-250 XLT carrying a 1400lb truck camper hauling a 4500lb boat and trailer with a 600lb tw and surge brakes.

This is a little tricky because you also have to add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the truck to the tongue weight of the trailer to choose the correct system. Since only part of the camper is behind the rear axle you would have to determine what fraction of the camper since behind the rear axle to get a rough estimate of the weight.

So if half of the camper is behind the rear axle, that would be 700 pounds added to the 600 pound trailer tongue weight. If only a quarter of the camper is behind the rear axle that would be another 350 pounds added to the tongue weight and so on.

A system rated for 700 to 1,400 pounds would cover the two scenarios listed above. And for surge brakes and a system that has sway control you would need a Reese system, # RP66561. This system comes with a shank so you will need to add a ball like # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 63840 for a 2-5/16 inch. I have linked instructions for you to view.

Since you have a boat trailer, if the trailer has a long pole tongue you will need to use a pole tongue adapter, # RP58393, and you will be limited to 1,400 pounds of tongue weight.
