I recently purchased a 2011 Volkswagon Golf. Can I use the Yakima racks I used for my old 1990 VW Golf on this vehicle? How would I adjust the rack to fit it? Finally, I need two pads for the Q clip. Which ones do I need? The A pads?

The 1990 VW Golf and the 2011 Golf use different Q Clips and crossbar lengths so the old parts will not work on the newer vehicle. The Yakima Q-Clips have been discontinued completely so you will need a completely new roof rack for your 2011.
For a 2011 Golf I recommend Rhino-Rack's Vortex Aero roof rack system. There are 2 different fit kits depending on if your Golf is a 3-door or 5-door model. Both models will use the same crossbars # RRVA118B-2 and mounting legs # RRRLKVA. The Custom DK fit kit for a 3-door is # DK064 and for a 5-door it is # DK207. This rack includes locks and has the aero bars for less wind noise.
