Question:

hi i dont hav power on the yellow wire at the factory trailer package harness plug at rear on my 2001 chevy surburban. fuse under hood good, all rest of lights/work, also hav right turn and brake light too., just dont hav left turn signal and left brake light on my car trailer ideas thanks

If all the tow package fuses are good, and you have checked the wiring behind the 7-way and are not getting any signal to the left turn/brake light pin on the trailer connector, there is a break in the wiring somewhere between the fuse box and the connector. You can trace the wiring if you care to, using a circuit tester working your way back up toward the front of the vehicle until you find the break in the wire. A simpler solution would be to simply bypass the lighting portion of the tow package by installing a tail light converter like part # 119178.

The inputs would wire directly into the tail light circuits. Behind each tail light assembly is the easiest place to access the circuits and make your connections. The yellow wire connects to the left turn circuit, red wire to the brake lamp circuit, green wire to the right turn circuit and the white wire is grounded. You can cut the 4-pole connector off of the output end and wire directly to your 7-way.
