Question:

I recently purchased the Tekonsha 7 way harness Code: 118286 and installed it on my 2016 Pilot EX 2wd. My understanding is that with this wiring harness, when i apply my brakes on the pilot, my electric brakes on my camper will be engaged. Can you confirm that this is how the system should operate? Secondly, I am interested in adding a brake controller to be able to apply additional braking if needed. Does the 3070-P which connects under my pilots dash accomplish this need? Do I need to run any wires through the car back to the wiring harness or are ALL 2016 honda pilots prewired for this?

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package part # 118286 is designed to give you a 7 way on the rear of your vehicle which included trailer lights, reverse signal, 12 volt power, ground and the brake controller signal wire. This kit will not apply trailer brakes it is designed to provide the wire for your brake controller to apply the trailer brakes.

To have working brakes you will get the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3070-P and a Tekonsha controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160. This will give you the braking power you want.

Not all Pilots can do this without having to run an additional wire but because yours had the factory tow package plug to plug the 118286 into it should deliver the braking power you are looking for. If for some reason it does not your will simply run a length of part # 12-1-1 from the blue wire on the brake controller to the brake signal wire on your 7 way plug.
