Question:
Does this part contain circuit protection? If not, is a separate protector available?

Expert Reply:
No, the black box on the 118308 wiring harness is a converter that converts the vehicles 4 circuit wiring to work with the trailers 3 circuit wiring, and it does not protect the vehicle from any damage that could be caused if there is a problem with the trailer wiring. We do not have a separate circuit protector available, but we have a circuit protected converter, part # 119178, that you could hard wire into your vehicle's taillights. You may also need a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, to install this harness. I have posted a link to the items mentioned and a video that should help if you decide to hard wire your vehicle.
