Typically, on Chevy vehicles like your 2012 Equinox, the brake switch wire you need will be light blue with a white stripe. However, you will need to test with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to find the correct wire. The wire you need will show a signal on the circuit tester only when the brake pedal is pressed. If you find any wire that also shows a signal when the running lights or turn signals are on it is not the correct wire.
