Question:
I have a 2004 Honda CR-V am considering buying a pop-up camper. The owners manual indicates a 1500# towing capacity. Even if I purchase your hitch, is it even wise to consider pulling a pop-up with this CR-V? Thank you so much. Im overwhelmed with the many details to consider in making a wise decision.

The Curt Class III 2-Inch Hitch, part # 13535, will fit your 2004 Honda CR-V. The hitch has a gross towing weight capacity of 3,500 lbs, but the 1,500-lb towing capacity of your vehicle will be the maximum you will be able to tow. When you add the hitch to your CR-V it will not increase the towing capacity of your vehicle. I am including a link to the installation instructions and an installation video of the Curt # 13535 hitch.
If the total weight capacity of your pop-up camper, loaded and ready to tow is under the 1,500-lb weight limit, then you would be able to tow the pop-up camper with your CR-V.
I would also recommend to add a transmission cooler like the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13503. This will help cool the transmission fluid when towing and help prolong the life of the transmission. Honda does like to recommend transmission coolers on vehicles that will be towing a trailer.
Some additional items you may need to complete you towing setup are listed below.
T-One Wiring Harness, # 118336
etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # EBMK4
I am including a couple of links to FAQ pages on towing a trailer.
