If at least 5" of the Kat's Heaters Engine Oil Dipstick Heater # KH15200 isn't submerged in oil it's possible that the unit could be damaged from overheating. This is essentially because it needs enough fluid to properly dissipate its heat. The actual heating element measures 23" long and is designed to fit dipstick openings that are at least 1/4" in diameter.
