I wanted to purchase a J rack kayak carrier for my Yakima round bar. In reading the reviews of these racks, they including Yakimas JayLow appear to have a problem with tightness because of the small diameter of the round bar. Would using these SnapAround adapters help, since it would present a wider, flatter base for a universal mount J racks?

The best j-style kayak carriers we offer for use with the Yakima Round Bar Roof Racks are going to be the Yakima JayHook Kayak Carrier part # Y04084 which is fixed or the Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier part # Y04073 which folds. I am not sure where you are seeing fit issues as I searched all of the reviews for both of these carriers and there were no complaints about this issue but I can assure you there will be none. The JayHook and JayLow both fit perfectly with the Yakima Round Bar Crossbars and you won't need any adapter for this like the Yakima SnapAround Mounting Brackets part # Y8810135.
